About

Food for thought … and thoughtful food.

Simple food, any food, so long as it is good and made with love (angry food upsets the workings of digestion).

I am one of those who live to eat and consider it a prime pleasure of life, together with fun and all kinds of frolicking … it is my way of celebrating ties of friendship and love, my way of being grateful to life.

He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Proverbs 15:15

………………………….

I am in the process of setting up a website called “Frascati Food Embassy”.  I am Jo (Josephine) Wennerholm and have been acting as ‘ambassadress’ to Frascati and other beautiful hill towns of the Castelli Romani area since 1992, when circumstances brought me in close contact with expats living here.  My mother is from Frascati, whose name got to be known world wide for its wine, and was one of the first in Italy to receive the DOC appellation.  It is only a short drive or train journey from Rome … a storied area around the ancient town of Tusculum that existed even before Rome did.  It is a leafy spot, replete with vineyards, hills, lakes and air that is gorgeous to breathe.  The eye can wander and wonder here as it takes in all the natural beauty showcasing traces of Roman civilization, ancient churches, and historic baroque villas.  Many who visited these parts on their Grand Tour were smitten, including Goethe, George Sand and John Singer Sargent.

We like simple food made with love, and I am here to show you the way – the Roman Castelli way.  Ample photos make my recipes very easy to follow.  And they are pretty straightforward anyway, or I would not perform them.

Would you like to come to Rome and cook?  You’ll get not only lessons in Italian home cooking but a day-long culinary experience as we source our ingredients at family-run food shops and at markets and farmers  markets.  We can even visit a wine estate.  Yes, you’ll see a princely Villa – next door to me.  And sample the best Frascati and other Castelli towns ever.  Each experience is custom designed for your pleasure and I have ideas to suit many a budget, from that of a honeymoon couple to that of  corporate brass parties.  I promise you a delightful day you will always remember, and recipes that will never let you down.  If you would like to contact me to discuss the kind of culinary experience I could design for you, please do so at pinojo@hotmail.com .

I really like your blog, congrats!
One “feature request”, if I may: why don’t you consider adding a WP “follow” button? It would take you 3 minutes to do and it would offer another option to people who are interested in following your blog who could do so by receiving email alerts of new posts (instead of ending up in the reader), with the added bonus that non-WP people could also follow you.
    Take care

    • Thank you so much dear Stefano … it sounds like an excellent idea. I am so useless at this sort of thing. I don’t even know what a “WP follow button” is? I thought I had a ‘follow’ on the blog? sigh. I shall have to ask a friend to help me sort out this one. And … grazie di cuore del consiglio!

      • Stefano says:

Jo, adding a follow button to your blog is real easy, just go to Appearance/Widgets in your Dashboard, drag the Follow button to your sidebar and ta-da… you are done! 🙂
